MOUNTAIN TIME

 

MOUNTAIN TIME

           --for Karen

    

She makes me a new wallet

from tough cotton

when I’m on the mountain.

Driving home I stop for

vegetable broth

for the minestrone soup,

ice cream

for the raspberry pie.

We watch

Don’t Look Up

on Netflix.

At bedtime I say,

I think I’ll put Gilead

back on the shelf

and Karen says,

Leave my book mark

where it is--

Don’t lose my place.
