DUSTING FINGERPRINTS

DUSTING FINGERPRINTS

Sit without saying

Lit candles in summer sun

I hope you are well

Walking neighborhood sideways

From before old gospel songs

THE END OF NEWSPRINT

THE END OF NEWSPRINT

Pitting pie cherries

Pull stem push stone with fingers

Kitchen table stains

Bloodied story-wrapped poems

Pre-promised peace-prayer savor

MIS-TAKE

MIS-TAKE

Two boys on bikes, stop,

THE SHIRT WITH BLOOD ON ITS HANDS

THE SHIRT WITH BLOOD ON ITS HANDS

FOR MISSING AND MURDERED

INDIGENOUS WOMEN

and says, Wear it tomorrow.

Looking at it, watching TV,

I say,

That’s a tough shirt to put on.

He looks at me, and asks,

Why is that?
