SHARING THE CHAIR LIFT WITH ANOTHER MAN

WHILE SKIING ON MONDAY IN LATE FEBRUARY

THE OLDER MAN REFLECTS,

PERHAPS IT’S BEST TO REMAIN SILENT

The wind banked some of that snow

on the West Ridge Access the Other one said,

making that powder

a bit heavy to get through.

It’s warmer today, at 22º, the older man said,

and the sun’s coming right through flurries,

dusting nine inches of virgin

and our skis penetrate and ride.

O Mama, O Mama!
