Baseball playoffs and Hurricanes

have me pushing the back-and-forth

button on the television after dinner.

I look up and away from the screen

at the walls where my wife

hung her landscape quilt

of the Oregon Coast earlier

in the day, sun-streaming

threaded surf

made from cheesecloth

crashing cotton shoreline.
