Germinating the Seeds

TURN LEFT ON BEAR MOUNTAIN ROAD

The road you travel rests.
Crossing into Texas
you hold the brochure
of wild flowers between
you and your host.
'Not even a picture of Lady Bird?'
She saved these for us.
How do you germinate the seeds?
That was her famous question.'

Karen says, Don't make a fool out of yourself.

Here you can swim in the lake
with your dog. The beach is open,
and water's so warm
neither of you will want to get out.
Two teenagers giggle and make out
in the water, and you focus
on your dog's wet fur.
You don't have to watch to feel
the electricity in the water.
