THE 46TH PSALM ON REFORMATION SUNDAY

In the 7th inning of the 5th game
we anticipate each pitch, secretly
pleased with our physical
conditioning. Aren't we attending?
We can hold this tension.
This is the song of post-moderns.
This side sings bold face.
The other side will sing italics.
This is the song of call and response
in our time. God is our refuge,
but he still hasn't had his turn.
We will not fear, though earth be moved.
Baseball is the game played without a clock.
We want something to happen soon.
